أفكّر فيك يا ماري كلّ يوم وكلّ ليلة، أفكّر فيك دائمًا وفي كلّ فكر شيء من اللذّة وشيء من الألم. والغريب أنّني ما فكّرتُ فيك يا مريم إلّا وقلت لك في سرّي: «تعالي واسكبي جميع همومك هنا، هنا على صدري». وفي بعض الأحيان أُناديك بأسماء لا يعرف معناها غير الآباء المحبّين والأمّهات الحنونات.وها إنّي أضع قبلة في راحة يمينكِ، وقبلة ثانية في راحة شمالكِ، طالبًا من الله أن يحرسك ويباركك ويملأ قلبك بأنواره، وأن يُبقيكِ أحبّ الناس إليّ.جبران
